As part of a healthy learning journey - and a way to signify achieving milestones - Rewards can be included in a Pathway, for your assigned Users to earn.

The following steps will ensure that your Badges and Certificates sit nicely alongside the various content types included in a Pathway…

Adding Your Reward

With your Pathway already built with content, select the plus (+) icon next to the content you want your Reward to sit under. This will open the Add Reward option, leading to the Add Rewards pop-up opening.

You’ll be given the option to add a Badge, Certificate or a Credly Badge (if your organisation has integrated with Credly).

The layouts for each of the options, will be similar to the version shown when creating a new Reward, from the Rewards Page. You can only add one Reward at a time, to a Pathway (and not in bulk), with the limit being included in the 100 Steps maximum (no matter whether the Steps consist of content or Rewards).

Once you’ve added your Badge or Certificate, you can reposition it anywhere within the Pathway, however, there are specific rules to remember when placing a Reward in a particular order…

  • Rewards positioned after a series of content in a Step, will only be earned once the User completes all of the content that’s come before the Reward.

  • Rewards added as the first Step (i.e., positioned at the beginning of the Pathway, will automatically be earned, before any content has been completed, as the content comes after the Reward, in the layout.

The Pathway’s side panel, despite showing the Steps and content included in the learning, won’t showcase the Reward, as it’s not considered an official piece of content.

Earning the Reward

One of the key rules for earning a Reward, is that Users must complete all of the content that precedes the Reward. This means that the Reward’s card will show as locked, until the User has met the criteria.

Once the User has completed all the content, they’ll earn the Reward automatically, but can select the Claim button, designed to motivate Users to feel excited and accomplished with their learning. The Certificate or Badge will be sent to the User’s Profile.

All Users - just as when earning a Reward from any other type of content - can find their Badge or Certificate stored on their Profile, via the Progress tag.

Note✨: Important points to note are…

  • It’s important for Admins to manage the use of Rewards from their Dashboard, due to the ability for Users to earn the same Reward, multiple times, if associated with various published content.

For example…

  • The Certificate, “Resilience at Work 2025”, is associated with the “Leadership 101” Course.

  • The same Certificate has also been added to 2 separate Pathways: “Leadership Pathway 2025” and “Leadership Pathway 2026”.

  • Jake is assigned to all three different content types, and reaches the criteria that allows him to earn the Reward.

    • Each time a Reward is added to content, it is treated as a separate entity.

    • Therefore, the Reward will appear on Jake’s profile as three separate achievements.

  • Specifically for Pathways, its Rewards can only be earned via the Pathway itself. If an Author adds content to a Pathway that was already completed previously, then the User would need to claim it via the Pathway, in order to receive it again, as a separate Reward.

  • For Rewards earned after completing one step in a Pathway, Users will still see - from their Profile page - that the Reward was earned after completing the entire Pathway.

FAQs

Can Rewards be assigned directly to a User, from the Pathway settings?

Authors/Collaborators of the Pathway won’t be able to assign Rewards directly/manually to a User, unlike when activating Badges and Certificates within a Course setting.

What happens if the Courses required for a Reward expire? Will Users still be eligible to receive it?

No. Rewards won’t be awarded to Users, if the Course - that’s included as a Step in the Pathway - has expired.

Can an Author delete and/or add more Rewards to a Pathway, at a later date?

Yes. Rewards can be permanently deleted and later add multiple Rewards, from the edit pages.
