INTERNAL — requires review

This draft has claims that haven't been checked in the live platform. Check the yellow notes before publishing.

Check whether a course built in another authoring tool will work in HowNow, and how to bring it in.

Supported standards

Standard

Supported?

How to bring it in

SCORM

Yes

Upload the .zip with Create a Course › Upload SCORM. See Upload a SCORM course.

AICC

Yes

Upload the .zip the same way as SCORM.

xAPI (Tin Can)

Yes

Upload the .zip the same way as SCORM. HowNow reads the progress the course reports.

Publish from an authoring tool (PENS)

Easygenerator only

Use Create a Course › Use Easygenerator. See Publish courses from Easygenerator into HowNow.

LTI

No

HowNow can't launch LTI tools. If your tool can export SCORM, upload that instead.

cmi5

Not confirmed

Ask your HowNow customer success manager before relying on it.

Package rules

Rule

Detail

File

One .zip file, exported from your authoring tool. Don't unzip and re-zip it. Packages that contain executable files are rejected.

Size

Up to 1 GB per package.

Packages per course

As many as you need, uploaded one at a time. Each becomes its own lesson.

Completion

Comes from the package. Before publishing, you choose whether learners must complete every lesson or just one. You can't change this once learners have enrolled.

Invalid packages

You see Processing Failed. Please upload a valid SCORM/TinCan zip file. See My SCORM upload failed or says "Processing Failed".

Note

If Upload SCORM isn't under Create a Course, it's turned off for your workspace. See Upload SCORM is missing from the Create menu.

Needs review (internal)

From code: the player accepts SCORM, AICC and xAPI, and there's no LTI support. The app doesn't show which versions are supported, so confirm with product which SCORM versions (1.2, 2004) work and whether cmi5 does.
