How to install the HowNow Browser Extension on an organisational level

Getting the HowNow Browser Extension enabled across your organisation is easy with any Chromium based browser!

The HowNow Browser Extension is genius - find, share, create and learn in any of your existing tools! You can install the Browser Extension across your organisation on any chromium-based Browser to save your team the task!

Google Chrome

If you have administrative permissions for your Google Workspace, follow the steps below.

  1. Ensure you are logged in with the administrator account for your organisation.

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Devices > Chrome.

  3. Click Apps & extensions > Users & browsers or Managed guest sessions.

  4. To apply the setting to all users and enrolled browsers, leave the top organisational unit selected.

  5. Go to the app that you want to automatically install.

  6. Under Installation policy, choose Force install or Force install + pin.

  7. Click Save.

Microsoft Edge

If you have administrative permissions for your Microsoft 365 space, follow the steps below.

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and go to the Chrome Web Store.

  2. Select Allow extensions from other stores in the banner at the top of the page.

  3. Select Allow to confirm.

  4. Select the extension you want to add and select Add to Chrome.

  5. At the prompt showing permissions required by the extension, carefully review the permissions, and select the Add extension button.

  6. You'll see a final prompt confirming the extension has been added.

Use the ExtensionInstallForcelist policy to control which extensions are blocked or allowed. Use the following steps as a guide to force-install an extension.

  1. In the Group Policy Editor, go to Administrative Templates> Microsoft Edge > Extensions > and then select Control which extensions are installed silently.

  2. Select Enabled.

  3. Click Show.

  4. Enter the app ID or IDs of the extension or extensions you want to force-install.
