Reactivate a deactivated account

Written by Sunil Sharma

Reactivate someone to give them back their HowNow access, for example when they return from a career break. Their learning history is still on their account.

Before you start

  • You need Admin access.

  • Reactivating uses a seat. If your workspace has no seats left, the person isn't reactivated.

  • People added through your HR system or SFTP can't be reactivated here. Bring them back in that system instead.

Reactivate someone

  1. In the sidebar, select Manage › People.

  2. Select the Status filter and tick Deactivated. Deactivated people are hidden until you do this.

  3. Search for the person, select … at the end of their row, then Activate.

The change happens straight away, with no confirmation. You'll see Successfully processed 1 user, and their status changes to Active if they had signed in before, or Invited if they never had.

Note: Reactivation doesn't send the person an email. Let them know they can sign in again.

Afterwards

  • Set who they report to again. Deactivating cleared it, and reactivating doesn't restore it.

  • If they managed people previously, restore their Direct Reports.

Good to know

  • You can reactivate only one person at a time. There's no bulk Activate.

  • On the person's profile, … › Activate User does the same thing but asks you to confirm first.
