The HowNow app for Microsoft Teams brings HowNow search, nugget creation and notifications into Teams. Unlike Slack, you don't connect it in Settings › Your Apps: it's set up once for your whole organisation.
How it works
Setting it up. Your organisation's Teams admin adds the HowNow app to Teams, and HowNow switches it on for your workspace. If you're an Admin and want the app, contact your HowNow customer success manager.
Matching your account. HowNow links your Teams account to your HowNow account by email address. If no HowNow account uses your Teams email, the app replies "You are not registered on HowNow. Please contact your Admin." Ask your Admin to invite you with the email address you use in Teams.
Searching HowNow. Use the HowNow app from the Teams message box to search courses, nuggets, sessions and articles. Select View Content on a result to open it in HowNow.
Creating nuggets. From a message's More actions menu, choose the HowNow action. Create Nugget opens with the message text in Content. Add a Title, choose Groups and Content Visibility, and tick any options you need, such as Mark as Mandatory. The nugget is published as soon as you submit it, and the app sends you a link to it.
For example: a store manager spots a clear answer about refunds in a Teams channel. They create a nugget called "Refunds without a receipt", choose their store managers' group and submit. It's live in HowNow straight away.
Notifications. If HowNow has turned on Teams notifications for your workspace, the app sends your notifications to you in a Teams chat, alongside your usual emails. Teams doesn't appear in Settings › Notifications, so you can't switch it off there.
Messaging people. Once someone has used the app, managers reviewing their requests can choose Message on Microsoft Teams to open a chat with them.
Note: The app doesn't answer questions typed into its chat. It replies "Sorry not able to recognize the command." Use search instead.
Who uses it
Everyone whose HowNow and Teams email addresses match can search HowNow and get notifications in Teams.
Admins, Managers and Contributors can create nuggets. Read Only members see "You are not authorized to create Nugget".
Admins work with HowNow and their Teams admin to set it up.
