When a Course counts as complete

Understanding how completion is defined for Courses.

A course is complete when every lesson and assessment in Content Covered has a green tick.

How it works

  • Lessons count once you've finished them.

  • Assessments count once you've submitted them. If the assessment says you must pass to complete, it only counts when you reach the pass mark.

For example:

  • "Handling Customer Complaints" has two lessons and a knowledge check you must pass.

  • If you finish both lessons but fail the knowledge check, the course stays in progress until you retake it and pass.

When the last item is done:

  • The main button changes to Start Again, and the progress bar shows Completed

  • The deadline and any Overdue label disappears

  • You earn any Badge or Certificate attached to the course.

Other ways a course is completed

  • A manager or admin marks it complete for you. You'll see "Marked as Completed by..." above the lessons.

  • Multi-language SCORM courses are complete when you finish any one language.

What can change after you've finished

  • Lessons added later are labelled New. Your course stays complete, and they open as read-only.

  • Lessons you hadn't finished, for example because someone marked the course complete for you, also open read-only, so opening them doesn't change your record.

  • Recurring courses reset your progress when a new cycle starts, so you need to complete them again.
