Message someone on Slack or Teams about their request

If you need more detail before deciding on a learning request, you can contact the person straight from the request.

Before you start

  • You need to be an owner of the budget the request is charged to.

  • Message on Slack appears only if your workspace is connected to Slack and the person has connected their own Slack account to HowNow. Message on Microsoft Teams appears only if the person uses HowNow in Teams. Otherwise you'll see the email options only.

Contact the requester

  1. In the sidebar, select Inbox, then select the request.

  2. Select the message icon next to the requester's name.

The message menu next to the requester's name, showing Copy Email and Send Email

  3. Choose how to contact them:

    • Message on Slack opens a direct message with them in Slack.

    • Message on Microsoft Teams opens a chat with them in Teams, in a new tab.

    • Copy Email copies their email address.

    • Send Email opens a new email to them in your email app.

The request stays pending while you talk, so come back to it to approve or decline.

Good to know

  • Nothing is sent from HowNow. Each option opens Slack, Teams or your email app, and you write the message there.

  • No message icon? It's hidden when the requester has been deactivated or deleted.
