Add a whole team at once, with access levels, groups, job roles and managers set from the file.
Before you start
You need Admin access, and your workspace must be launched.
You need a free seat for every row. If the file has more rows than free seats, nothing is uploaded.
Upload the file
In the sidebar, select Manage › People.
Select Invite People, then Upload CSV.
Select Download Template and open the file in a spreadsheet app. Delete the example rows.
Add one row per person, using the columns below.
Save the file as a CSV. It can be up to 10 MB.
Drag the file onto Upload Files, or select the area to choose it.
The file is processed in the background. You get a notification saying how many people were added. New people appear in Manage › People as Invited.
Warning
Everyone newly added is emailed an invitation straight away. Managers named in Reports To get a notification about their new reports.
Columns
Column | What to enter |
Name | Their full name. If left blank, the person is named "Student". |
Required. Rows without a valid email are skipped. | |
Global Permission | Admin, Manager, Contributor or Read Only. Anything unrecognised becomes Read Only. |
Group Names (comma separated) | Existing groups, spelled exactly. Unknown groups are ignored, not created. |
Job Role | A job role name. If it doesn't exist yet, it's created. |
Joining Date (dd-mm-yyyy) | The date they joined your organisation, for example 03-11-2026. |
Reports To | Their manager's email. Ignored if that manager already has 100 direct reports. |
Note
Fill in Global Permission on every row. A blank cell can pick up the access level from the row above, so a blank row after an Admin row may create another Admin.
Good to know
People who are already in the workspace are skipped. A CSV upload doesn't update existing people.
Previously deleted people in the file are restored, but they aren't sent an invitation email. Resend their invite afterwards.
Needs review (internal)
Not uploaded during verification (no new invites allowed). Check the completion notification wording and the rejection message when the file has more rows than free seats.
