Delete someone's account permanently

Written by Sunil Sharma

Delete an account you'll never need again, such as one invited with the wrong email address. If the person might come back, or you might need their learning, deactivate them instead.

Before you start

  • You need Admin access.

  • You can't delete yourself, your workspace owner, the only owner of a budget, or anyone added through your HR system, SFTP or the API. Delete doesn't appear for them.

Delete one person

  1. In the sidebar, select Manage › People and search for the person. If they're already deactivated, tick Deactivated in the Status filter first.

  2. Select … at the end of their row, then More › Delete. For a deactivated person, Delete is in the main row menu.

  3. If they own content, budgets or Spaces, or mark assessments, you'll see Delete selected user. Under New Owner, open Choose new owner, pick who takes over, and select Reassign & Delete.

On Delete name?, select Yes, Delete.

The Delete confirmation with Yes, Delete highlighted

Remember: This can't be undone. The person is removed from every group, and anyone who reported to them is left without a manager.

The person no longer appears in Manage › People, even with every status selected.

Delete multiple people

  1. Tick the people in the list and select More Actions › Delete.

  2. Choose a New Owner if asked.

  3. Type DELETE and select Yes, Delete.

Good to know

  • Learning they completed still counts in your reports.

  • Their email address is freed. If you invite it again, they start with a new, empty account.

  • Skill reviews they were asked to give are cancelled, and the people who asked are told.
