A budget's members are everyone in its groups. Add a group to give more people the budget, or remove one to take it away. You can change groups at any time, even after people have raised requests.
Before you start
You need Admin access, or Manager access as an owner of the budget.
To add or remove one person, change who's in the group instead.
Change the groups
In the sidebar, select Manage › Budgets.
On the budget's row, select … (Budget actions), then Edit Budget.
If you see Edit This Budget?, select Continue to Edit.
Under Groups, tick a group to add it or untick it to remove it. Groups already on
the budget are listed first.
Select Save Changes.
If the budget has requests, Save Budget Changes sums up the change, for example "1 Group gains access to this budget" or "1 Group loses access to this budget". Select Save Changes again.
Warning: Removing a group cancels the pending requests of anyone who loses access and tells them in-app. New members and the budget's owners also get an in-app notification, but nobody is emailed.
You'll see Budget updated successfully!, and the Groups column on the budget's row shows the new groups.
What happens to people
When you add a group, its members can use the budget straight away, with the full Amount per Member for the current cycle. Someone who was already a member through another group keeps their current balance.
When you remove a group, people who aren't in another of the budget's groups lose access:
their balance on the budget is removed
their Pending requests on it are cancelled automatically, and an in-app notification tells them it was cancelled because they no longer have access to the budget;
requests already approved stay approved.
Good to know
A budget needs at least one group. Save Changes stays unavailable until you pick one.
The Everyone group isn't offered for budgets.
Someone who leaves and is added back in the same cycle doesn't get a fresh
allowance: what they'd already spent this cycle still counts.
View History shows the new number of groups, not which group changed.
