The HowNow Chrome extension lets you search HowNow and save web pages to it from any site, without opening HowNow in a separate tab. Anyone in your workspace can install it.
Before you start
You need Google Chrome on a computer. The extension isn't available for other browsers or on mobile.
If your company manages Chrome for you, it may block extensions. Ask your IT team.
Install the extension
In HowNow, select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Settings › Your Apps.
Next to HowNow Chrome Extension, select Install. The extension's page opens in the Chrome Web Store.
Select Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
Pin HowNow to your toolbar: select the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar, then the pin next to HowNow.
Sign in
Select the HowNow icon in your toolbar.
Under Enter your Company URL, type the part of your HowNow web address before
.hownow.app, then select Get Started. For example, foracme.hownow.app, typeacme.Sign in as you usually do: select your company's sign-in button, such as Sign in with Microsoft, or enter your email and password and select Login.
Choose which extras to turn on, then select Continue. They all start switched off:
Set the HowNow homepage as the default New Tab landing page.
Show results from my HowNow library within Google search results.
Show HowNow Browser Extension Shortcut. This adds a small HowNow tab to the right edge of web pages.
You're now signed in, and the extension opens on your HowNow home. Back in Settings › Your Apps, the button changes to Installed after you reload the page.
Good to know
To open the extension without the mouse, press Ctrl+Shift+H (Windows, ChromeOS and Linux) or Cmd+Shift+H (Mac).
"Could not access this URL. Please try again." means the company URL wasn't recognised. Check its spelling, without
.hownow.app.You can change the three options later from the extension's settings.
