Connect Slack so you can search HowNow with /hownow, share content in conversations, turn Slack messages into nuggets and get your HowNow notifications in Slack.
You connect your own account, but the first connection also adds HowNow to your organisation's Slack workspace.
Before you start
Slack must be listed in Settings › Your Apps. If it isn't, ask an Admin to enable it in Apps › Connectors.
Your Slack workspace may need a Slack admin to approve new apps.
Agree with your HowNow Admin who connects first. Each connection relinks HowNow to the Slack workspace that person chooses, for everyone.
Connect Slack
Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Settings › Your Apps.
On the Available to connect tab, select Connect next to Slack.
Remember: Connecting affects everyone. HowNow links itself to the Slack workspace you choose, replacing any earlier link, and can send a welcome message in Slack to every member whose email matches a HowNow account.
In Slack, check that your organisation's workspace is shown, then select Allow.
You return to HowNow with a confirmation message, and Slack moves to the Connected tab.
Use HowNow in Slack
Search: type
/hownowfollowed by what you need, for example/hownow returns policy. Only you see the results, up to 12 at a time. Select View Content to open an item in HowNow, Send Content to share it in the conversation, or See All Results to continue in HowNow.Create a nugget from a message: open the message's More actions menu and choose the HowNow shortcut. In Create Nugget, add a Title, check Groups and Content Visibility, then select Submit.
Note: The nugget is published straight away, not saved as a draft. If you don't choose groups, it goes to Everyone.
Notifications: HowNow sends your notifications as direct messages from the HowNow app. To turn them off, go to Settings › Notifications and switch off Slack under Channels.
Good to know
Slack shows Connected, but
/hownowsays you haven't connected? When a colleague connects, HowNow can mark you as connected without finishing your own link. Select Disconnect on the Connected tab, then connect again.Disconnecting stops
/hownowand Slack notifications for you only. The HowNow app stays in your Slack workspace.Once you've connected, managers reviewing your requests can choose Message on Slack.
