Giving a piece of content a deadline emphasises the importance of the content and the time-frame it should be completed in.

When you set the Deadline, your assigned learners will receive email reminders so they don't miss out.

  • 1 Week before (if applicable)

  • 1 Day before

  • 1 Day after

Setting a Deadline

  1. Head to the Release & Deadline step for your content type.

  2. under the Deadline section, choose one of the two options:

    • Choose a specific date

    • Choose a period of time

Specific date: This will set the Deadline on a fixed date, regardless of when the Course was published. for example:

  • Your Course has a Deadline of 10 June

  • You published it on 5 June

  • User A is assigned on 5 June

  • User B is assigned on 8 June

  • User A has 5 days to complete it, User B has 2 days to complete it.

Period of time: The Course Deadline will be relative to the date the User has been assigned to the Course, so for example:

  • Your Course has a Deadline of 2 Weeks

  • You published it on 1 October

  • User A is assigned on 1 October

  • User B is assigned on 24 October

  • User A has 2 weeks from 1 October to complete it, User B has 2 weeks form 24 October to complete it.

Note✨: There are two types of Deadlines, which should not be confused - a Course Deadline and an Assessment Deadline. It's important to remember that:

  • Course Deadline - once a Deadline is added to a Course itself...

    • Users will be able to complete any Assessment inside of it - and in turn complete the Course - even when it appears as Overdue.

  • Assessment Deadline - a separate Deadline specifically tied to an Assessment...

    • Users won't be able to complete the Assessment, and will see red text showcasing the date and time of the original deadline passed.

    • In the case of the Assessment Deadline, the Author would need to update it, to provide all of the Overdue Users another attempt at completing the Assessment. This amendment of the Assessment's Deadline Date, won't affect the score/completion of any User who had already passed the first time 'round.
