A badge or certificate is a reward a creator attaches to a course or pathway. You earn it automatically when you meet its condition, and it's added to My Profile › Achievements.
You earn a course reward by finishing the course or specific lessons, and a pathway reward by starting, reaching a milestone or finishing, depending on where it sits.
How it works
Rewards on a course
A course reward is earned in one of two ways:
Course completion: when you finish the whole course.
Lesson completion: when you finish specific lessons, even if the rest of the course isn't done.
To check which applies, open the course and select Rewards. For a lesson reward, select it to see the lessons you need under Achieved Through.
Rewards in a pathway
In a pathway, a reward is a step, and its position decides when you earn it:
Where the reward sits | When you earn it |
Before any content | When you first open the pathway |
Between content steps | When every content step above it is complete (a milestone) |
After all content | When you've completed every content step |
For example, a certificate at the top of a "Store Opening Checklist" pathway is yours the first time you open the pathway, and its details say Issued for starting Store Opening Checklist.
Pathway rewards are checked when the pathway opens. If you finish the last step somewhere else, such as your Home page, open the pathway again to get the reward.
After you earn one
Each reward is earned once. If a course renews and you retake it, you keep your reward but don't get a second one.
For a Credly badge, Credly emails you to accept it.
An admin or the creator can also give you a reward directly.
Who uses it
Everyone earns rewards on the content they take. Creators attach rewards to courses and pathways, and managers and admins see who has earned them.
