Pick a job role you'd like to move into, and Grow shows the skills it needs, the level for each, and how close you are. Your manager and admin aren't notified.

On Grow, select the Target card (or Change on it), pick a role and select Set Target Role. Grow then lists that role's skills and how close you are to each.

Before you start

You need a job role on your profile, and your workspace must have target roles turned on. If you don't see the Today and Target cards at the top of Grow.

Choose a target role

  1. In the sidebar, select Grow.

  2. Select the Target card, which says Pick a role you are curious about if you haven't chosen one yet. If you already have a target role, select Change on the card.

  3. In Where do you want to go?, find the role under Suggested for you, or search for it. Your current job role isn't listed.

Note: Suggestions are based on your job role and can take a few seconds to appear. If HowNow can't suggest any, you'll see every role from A to Z under Job roles you can choose instead.

  4. Select the role, then Set Target Role.

The Where do you want to go? panel with search results and Set Target Role

The Target card now shows the role and how many of its skills you're ready in, for example "0 of 4 skills ready", with the skills listed below. Select the Today card to switch back to your current role's skills.

Good to know

  • You can have one target role at a time. Choosing another replaces it. Skills you rated for your old target role stay under Also Developing, marked Previous Target Role.

  • Target role skills aren't on your profile yet. They show No Rating until you rate yourself. See Work on the skills for your target role.

  • A role with no skills shows "No Skills for your role yet". Choose another, or ask your admin to add skills to it.

  • Your target role is cleared automatically if you're later given that job role, or if it's no longer available in your workspace. See My target role disappeared.
