A deep dive is a structured explanation of one topic, built from the Guru's knowledge and shaped to your role. Use it when a quick chat answer isn't enough, for example "Give me a deep dive on handling refund requests".

Take a deep dive

  1. In the Guru chat, ask for a deep dive on a topic, or select a deep dive suggestion under one of the Guru's answers, for example Start a deep dive on setting up the till float.

A card appears in the chat showing Getting things ready... while it's written, then the deep dive opens full-size. It can include tables, and video or audio clips from the Guru's knowledge.

  2. To go further, type a question in the Ask follow up... box at the bottom. If the Guru answers with another deep dive, it opens as a new tab on top of the current one. If it gives a normal answer instead, the card closes and the answer appears in your chat.

  3. If the deep dive used content from the Guru's knowledge, select the sources link under the title, for example 1 Source, to see it.

  4. Close the card with the close (X) button. If you opened several tabs, the Close all tabs button next to it closes them together.

The Guru then suggests what to do next, such as a quiz on the same topic. The deep dive stays in your chat as a card: to read it again, select the expand button in the card's top-right corner.

Good to know

  • It may not be called a deep dive. The Guru may say refresher, walkthrough or overview. They're the same activity.

  • The sources link only appears when the deep dive drew on the Guru's knowledge. A topic the knowledge doesn't cover gives a general deep dive with no sources.

  • Broad questions can lead to one. If your question is complex, the Guru often offers a deep dive on it as one of its next steps.

  • A clip that won't play shows "Unable to load video" or "Unable to load audio". The rest of the card still works.
