Add web pages and YouTube videos to a Guru's knowledge base

Add links to public web pages, online PDFs or YouTube videos so a Guru can answer from them, for example your public returns policy or a product demo video.

Before you start

  • You can only change the knowledge base of a Guru you created.

Add links

  1. Open your Guru in the editor. For a published Guru, expand Gurus in the sidebar, select it, then select ⋮ › Edit Guru.

  2. On the Knowledge Base card, select Configure.

  3. Select the URLs tab.

  4. Paste your links into Paste your URLs here, separated by spaces, commas or new lines. Each must start with http:// or https://, or Add stays greyed out.

  5. Select Add.

The URLs tab with a link pasted and Add highlighted

Each link appears under Content Added with a progress message, ending in Your Guru just got smarter. once the Guru can use it.

Note: On a published Guru, new links only reach learners when you select Save Changes. If you close or refresh the editor first, they're discarded.

Limits

  • Up to 10 links at a time. Extra links stay in the box, so select Add again for the next 10.

  • Duplicates are added once, including links already in the knowledge base. Links that differ only after a ? count as the same page, so …/faq?id=12 and …/faq?id=34 can't both be added.

  • Only visible text is imported. Broken links, pages that load their text with scripts and very slow pages show Upload failed.

  • Pages behind a sign-in don't work. The link is added without an error, but the Guru only gets the text of the sign-in page. Download the content and upload it as a file instead.

  • YouTube videos need English captions. The Guru uses the video's English transcript, and videos without one fail.

  • Links to PDFs are read as PDF documents.

Good to know

  • Pages are read once, when you add them. If a page changes later, remove it and add it again so the Guru uses the new version.

  • Learners can open web page sources listed on a deep dive.
