Share a document or photo in a direct message. You can attach PDFs and images (JPG, JPEG and PNG), and every file must go with some text.

Attach a file

  1. Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, select Messages, then open the conversation from your list or start a new one.

  2. Select the paperclip (Attach a file) at the bottom left of the message box, and choose one or more files. Each file appears as a card and starts uploading straight away.

Note: You can attach up to 5 files per message, each up to 10 MB. Files of other types, such as Word documents or videos, aren't attached, and a message tells you how many were left out and why.

  3. Type a message in the Send Message box. Until you do, the send button stays greyed out and shows "Add a message to send this file".

  4. Wait for the uploads to finish, then press Enter or select the send button.

The message appears in the conversation with each file underneath it.

Download files you've received

Select the download button on any file. When a message has three or more files, Download All appears under them to get them in one go.

Good to know

  • Files stay in the conversation. Both of you can download them later from the same thread.

  • Drag and drop isn't supported. Use the paperclip.

  • Changed your mind? Select the × on a file's card to remove it before you send.
