Set a release date, deadline and renewal cycle

Use the course editor's Release & Deadline step to set when learners can start a course, when it's due, and whether they must redo it on a cycle.

Before you start

  • You need to be the course's author or a collaborator.

  • Courses, SCORM courses and sessions have all three settings. A nugget only has a release date: Set Release Date (Optional) in its Settings.

Set the release date

  1. In Manage › Content, open the course's ... menu, select Edit, then select Release & Deadline (step four).

  2. Under Course Availability, choose Immediately to go live when you publish, or Later and pick a date to schedule it. You can't pick a date in the past.

Course Availability set to Later, with the date field next to it

Note: You can't change Course Availability once the course is published, so set the date before you first publish.

Set a deadline

  1. Under Course Deadline, choose an option other than No Deadline:

    • Choose a specific date: everyone has the same due date, such as a compliance cut-off.

    • Choose a period of time: enter a number up to 99 and pick Days, Weeks or Months. Each learner's deadline counts from the day the course is assigned to them. For example, with 2 Weeks, someone assigned on 10 October is due on 24 October, and someone added a month later gets their own two weeks.

Set a Renewal Cycle

  1. If learners must redo the course regularly, turn on Renewal Cycle.

  2. Choose Monthly, Quarterly, Annually or Custom. With Custom, enter a number and choose Days, Weeks or Months.

Note: Renewal Cycle isn't available for content from connected libraries such as Udemy or LinkedIn Learning.

A renewal cycle runs separately for each learner, from when they complete the course. For example, with Annually, someone who completes it in March has to complete it again the following March.

Save your changes

  1. Select Save, or Save & Publish if the course isn't live yet.

Assigned learners see the deadline on the course card.
