Change a pathway's settings and deadline

Written by Sunil Sharma

Pathway settings control who can find the pathway, who can share it, and when learners need to finish it.

Before you start

You need to be the pathway's author or a collaborator, with Admin, Manager or Contributor access. Settings are only in the editor, not in preview.

Change the settings

  1. Open the pathway in the editor and select the gear icon at the top (Configure Pathway Settings).

  2. Change any of these:

    • Mark as Mandatory: learners must complete this pathway. Until they do, it's listed on the Mandatory tab of their Home page.

    • Content Visibility: where people can find it. Only with Link keeps it out of search and browsing; share it with Copy Link.

    • Redistribution: lets assigned people share the pathway, and other creators add it to their own content.

    • Top Picks and Announcements: feature the pathway on the Home page of the people it's assigned to. Announcements lists it on the Announcements tab.

      Warning

Turn on Top Picks and Announcements only once the pathway is ready, because they show it to learners straight away.

    • Language: the pathway's language (required).

    • Thumbnail: the unlabelled image box. Select its pencil icon to add the picture shown on the pathway's card in Learn and Manage › Content. It's separate from the cover; without it, cards show a plain icon.

    • Sequential Learning: makes learners complete the steps in order.

  3. Select Save Changes.

The pathway Settings panel with a two-week deadline and the Save Changes button

The panel closes. On a published pathway, your changes reach learners straight away, without republishing.

Note: Only with Link and Redistribution can't be on together. Turn Redistribution off before you choose Only with Link.

Set a deadline

  1. In the editor, select the gear icon.

  2. Under Pathway Deadline, choose an option:

    • No Deadline: learners can finish at any time.

    • Choose a period of time: type a number from 1 to 99 and choose Days, Weeks or Months. Each learner's deadline counts from the day they're assigned. For example, with 2 weeks, someone assigned on 1 March is due on 15 March.

    • Choose a specific date: everyone has the same due date, whenever they're assigned. Past dates can't be chosen.

  3. Select Save Changes.

Learners see the due date on the pathway's card in Learn and at the top of the pathway.

Tip: Use a period of time for pathways people join at different times, such as onboarding. Use a specific date for a one-off push, such as training before a product launch.

Good to know

  • Only with Link doesn't give access. People who open the link still need to be assigned to the pathway, or be an admin or creator.

  • Custom content fields: if your workspace has them, they appear in the settings too, and you must fill in the required ones before you can save.
