Copy a link to share content

In Manage › Content, select ... on the item's row, then More › Copy Link. The link opens the content for people who can already access it; it doesn't give anyone new access.

Copy a direct link to a course, nugget or pathway to paste into an email, a chat or a team page. It's the way to point people to content set to Only with Link, which doesn't appear anywhere else in HowNow.

Before you start

You can copy a link to content you're the author, a collaborator or the verifier of. Admins can copy a link to any content.

Copy Link isn't available for content from connected libraries.

Copy the link

  1. In the sidebar, select Manage › Content and search for the item.

  2. Select ... at the end of its row, then More › Copy Link.

  3. You'll see Link copied to clipboard. Paste the link into your email, chat or page.

For a nugget set to Only with Link, you can also copy the link from the nugget editor: open Settings, and select Copy Link under Content Visibility.

Who can open the link

The link doesn't grant access on its own. What happens depends on the content's visibility and who opens it.

Who can open the link

Only with Link

People it's assigned to, its author, collaborators and verifier, and Admins. Anyone else sees You don't have access to this page.

Any other option

Anyone in your workspace who can see the content.

For example, if you share an Only with Link nugget in your store team's chat, only the colleagues you've assigned it to can open it. Assign it to the others first. See Assign a course or pathway to people and groups.

Good to know

  • A pathway link opens the pathway itself for people it's assigned to, and a preview for its author, collaborators, verifier and Admins. If someone else can't open it, see Someone can't open the pathway link I shared.

  • The link stays the same if you rename or edit the content.
