Edit content that is already published

In Manage › Content, choose Edit from the item's ... menu and select Edit Anyway. Save with Save & Continue: changes go live straight away, and learners keep their progress.

You can update a course or nugget after it's gone live, for example when a returns policy changes. To work on a separate version without touching the live one, duplicate it instead.

Before you start

Edit only appears if you're the content's author or a collaborator. This applies to Admins too: an Admin who isn't on the content can't edit it. Ask the author to add you as a collaborator.

Edit published content

  1. In the sidebar, select Manage › Content and find the item.

  2. Select ... at the end of its row, then Edit.

  3. For a published course, SCORM course or pathway, you'll see Edit Published Content? Select Edit Anyway.

The Edit Published Content? message with Edit Anyway highlighted

Tick Do not show again to skip this message next time. It only applies to the browser you're using.

  4. The editor opens in a new tab. Make your changes. To change a lesson, open Course Editor, select the lesson, edit it, then select Save and Continue to go back to the course.

  5. Select Save & Continue to save each step.

    Warning

Saved changes go live for learners straight away, even though the message says they go live when you republish. Make sure each change is ready before you save it.

    Warning

Don't select Save Draft on published content. It asks Do you still want to unpublish?, and selecting Proceed takes the content away from learners and out of any pathways it's in.

The item stays Published in Manage › Content, and its Last Updated date changes.

Good to know

  • Learners keep their progress when you edit content. Someone who has already completed a course stays Completed, and their assessment results are kept. A lesson you add shows as New to them.

  • For pathways, adding or removing steps changes learners' progress. See Edit a published pathway.

  • Content from connected libraries, such as LinkedIn Learning, can't be edited.
