Create a Webinar

Written by Sunil Sharma

A webinar is an online presentation at set times, such as a monthly briefing, that learners book and join from HowNow. For small, hands-on or one-to-one sessions, create a live class instead.

Before you start

You need Admin, Manager or Contributor access. If Use Hownow Virtual isn't offered, your workspace has it turned off and you'll need a custom link.

Create the Webinar

  1. Select + at the top of the sidebar, then Host a Session › Webinar. The editor opens in a new tab and saves a draft straight away.

  2. On Information, add the name, a summary and a description. Under Thumbnail, choose an image, then select Save & Continue.

  3. On Date & Time, choose the Webinar Duration and, under When do bookings close?, how long before the start people can still book.

  4. Pick the Start Time and set the time zone to where the presenter will be. To repeat the webinar, turn on Recurring event. For extra one-off dates, select Add availability. Select Save & Continue.

  5. On Add Resources, add any slides or handouts and select Save & Continue.

  6. On Assign Learners, select people or groups, then Apply and Save & Continue.

  7. On Release & Deadline, under Webinar Type, choose:

    • Use Hownow Virtual to run it in HowNow's own classroom, with up to 10 bookings per session.

    • Use custom link to paste a Teams, Google Meet or other meeting link, with up to 10,000 bookings. Check your tool's licence covers the number you enter.

Note: Once anyone books, the Webinar Type is locked, so decide on the tool before you publish.

  8. Enter the Maximum allowed bookings per session.

Webinar Type with Use custom link selected and a Teams link, and a maximum of 50 bookings per session

  9. Choose the Content Visibility, then select Save & Publish.

The webinar is published, and assigned learners can book a time from its page.

Good to know

  • With Use custom link, every session uses the same link, so use a recurring meeting in your tool.

  • To move one date after people have booked, change it on the Sessions page rather than in the editor.
