Edit someone's name, job role or custom fields

Fix a misspelt name, update someone's job role after a promotion, or fill in your workspace's own profile fields.

Before you start

  • You need Admin access. Edit Profile doesn't appear for Managers.

  • You can't edit someone who's deactivated. Reactivate them first.

  • If your workspace syncs people from an HR system, their name, job role and workspace fields come from that system and are locked here. Change them in the HR system and they update on the next sync. People added through an API integration don't have Edit Profile at all.

Edit the profile

  1. In the sidebar, select Manage › People and find the person.

  2. On their row, select ⋯, then More › Edit Profile. A panel opens on the right.

  3. Update the fields you need:

    • Full Name: up to 75 characters.

    • Job Role: pick from your workspace's job roles, or select × to clear it.

    • User Role: their access level, such as Read Only or Manager. You can't change your own; another Admin has to.

    • Workspace Fields: any custom profile fields your workspace has set up. This section appears only if your workspace has them.

  4. Email Address is greyed out because it can't be changed.

The Edit Profile panel with a new name entered and Save Changes highlighted

  5. Select Save Changes.

You'll see "Name's profile updated." and the new details show straight away in the People list and on their profile.

Change only the job role

  1. Open the person's profile.

  2. Next to Job Role, select the pencil icon.

  3. In Change Job Role, pick the new role and select Update Role.

Note: Changing someone's job role changes the skills they're expected to have to match the new role.
