Ask someone to rate themselves on a skill

Written by Sunil Sharma

Send someone a reminder to rate their own level on a skill. A self rating gives you a starting point before you or their manager review them.

Before you start

  • Admins work from Manage › Skills. Line managers with Manager access work from Manage › Team instead.

  • The person must already have the skill.

As an admin

  1. In the sidebar, select Manage › Skills, then select the skill's name. The skill opens in a new browser tab.

  2. Under People, select View All People.

  3. On the person's row, select the three-dot menu, then Request Self Review.

The row menu with Request Self Review highlighted

Note: The person gets an email from you straight away, titled "Please Complete Your Self-Review", with a Review Skill button that takes them to the skill.

You'll see Self-review requested. Nothing appears in their Inbox; the request is by email only.

As a Line Manager

  1. In the sidebar, select Manage › Team, then select the person on People.

  2. Select the Skills tab.

  3. On the skill's row, select ⋯, then Request Self Review.

The skill's row menu on a team member's Skills tab, with Request Self Review highlighted

You'll see Review request sent. The person gets the "Please Complete Your Self-Review" email from you straight away.

Good to know

  • You can ask the same person about the same skill once a day. A second request shows "A reminder has already been sent for this today. Please try again tomorrow." (or "Review request has already been sent." on Manage › Team).

  • The option isn't offered on your own row.

  • The person's rating appears in the Reviews column once they submit it.
