Set the level you expect one person to reach on a skill. Their gap status (for example Gap or Met) is worked out against this target.
Before you start
Admins work from Manage › Skills. Line managers with Manager access work from Manage › Team instead.
You can't set a personal target on a skill that comes from the person's Current Role. The Job Role sets that target.
As an Admin
In the sidebar, select Manage › Skills, then select the skill's name. The skill opens in a new browser tab.
Under People, select View All People.
On the person's row, select ⋯, then Update Target Level (or Add Target Level if they don't have one yet).
Select a level from 1 to 5. For example, 3 (Competent) means they can do it without supervision.
Select Set Target Level.
Their Target Level and Status update in the list.
As a Line Manager
In the sidebar, select Manage › Team, then select the person on People.
Select the Skills tab.
On the skill's row, select ⋯, then Update Target Level (or Add Target Level if there's no target yet).
Select a level from 1 to 5, then select Update Target Level.
The row's Required marker moves to the new level.
Good to know
If the target option is missing from the ⋯ menu, the skill comes from the person's current job role.
Setting a target on a skill the person added themselves, or one from their target role, makes it an assigned skill. Its source changes to, for example, Assigned by Admin.
The person isn't notified when you change a target level.
