Choose the skills a job role needs and the level people in it should reach. Everyone in the role gets the new skills on their Grow page.
Before you start
You need Admin access.
A role can have up to 30 skills, unless your workspace has a different limit.
If Map Skills is missing, your role skills are managed outside HowNow.
Map skills to one role
In the sidebar, select Manage › Roles.
Hover over the role, select ⋯, then Map Skills. On the role's own page, use Actions › Map Skills.
Search for a skill and tick it. It starts at Target Level: 1.
Select Target Level next to the skill and choose a level from 1 to 5. For example, choose 3 (Competent) if people should handle the skill without supervision.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each skill, then select [number] Skills selected to review your choices.
Select Map Skills.
You'll see a message such as "17 skills mapped to Fitting Room Assistant", and the skills appear on the role's page.
Map skills to several roles at once
In Manage › Roles, tick the roles, then select Map Skills in the bar at the bottom.
Tick the skills and choose a Target Level from 1 to 5 for each. You can pick up to 30 at a time.
Select Map Skills, then Yes, Proceed.
Remember: If a role already has one of the skills, its target level is replaced with the level you choose here.
HowNow maps the skills in the background, usually within a couple of minutes, and emails you when it's done. Roles that already have 30 skills are skipped.
Add a skill to several roles from the skill
Use this when a new skill applies to many roles.
In the sidebar, select Manage › Skills and open the skill.
Select the Job Roles tab, then Add Job Role.
Tick the roles and set a Target Level for each.
Select Add Job Role.
The roles appear on the skill's Job Roles tab. If a role can't take the skill, for example because it already has 30 skills, HowNow tells you which and why.
