Connect the tools where your documents live so one HowNow search also finds your files there. Anyone can connect apps, whatever their access level.

Before you start

  • You only see the apps your admin has made available.

  • You need your own account for the app, for example a Google or Microsoft work account.

Connect an app

  1. Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Settings › Your Apps.

  2. On the Available to connect tab, select Connect next to the app. Its sign-in page opens in the same tab.

Your Apps, with Connect highlighted next to Google Drive

  3. Sign in with your work account and allow HowNow access.

You return to Your Apps with a confirmation message, and the app moves to the Connected tab.

What each app adds

App

What you get

Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox

Your documents appear under Files in search

SharePoint

SharePoint documents and sites appear under Files

Confluence, Notion

Pages from your knowledge base appear under Files

Zendesk

Asks for your Zendesk subdomain first.

Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar

Sessions you book are added to your calendar.

Slack and GoToWebinar are listed on the same page but don't add files to search.

Good to know

  • Your files stay private. HowNow searches each app as you, so you only see files you can already open there, and colleagues never see them.

  • Google Drive and Google Calendar are connected separately but share one Google sign-in. Disconnecting either one disconnects both.

  • If a connection stops working, a message appears under the app on Your Apps.
