What is From the Web?

S
Written by Sunil Sharma

From the Web is a list of free external sources, such as blogs, news sites, podcasts and YouTube channels, whose new articles and videos HowNow can bring into your workspace.

Apps › From the Web, showing the Categories and the Connected sources

How it works

Admins choose the sources. In Apps › From the Web, sources are grouped into Categories such as Customer Success, Leadership and Wellbeing. Each source sits under Connected or Not Connected, and nothing comes in from a source until an Admin connects it. This is different from Connectors, where apps are on until an Admin turns them off.

Connected sources appear in search and recommendations. Everyone in the workspace can find their articles and videos in search and filter to them by choosing From the Web under Source. They can also be recommended on Home, labelled From the Web with the source's name. For example, if your Admin connects Help Scout under Customer Success, a search for "customer complaints" can return Help Scout articles next to your own courses.

New articles arrive in the background, not the moment a source publishes them.

Who uses it

  • Admins connect the sources that suit your organisation. Only Admins see the From the Web tab. Managers see only HowNow Plus in Apps, and Contributors and Read Only users can't open Apps.

  • Everyone else finds the articles in search alongside other learning. They can't see or change the list of sources.

If From the Web isn't in Apps, it isn't turned on for your workspace. Contact your HowNow customer success manager.
