Create a pathway with AI

S
Written by Sunil Sharma

HowNow AI drafts a pathway, with sections and steps from the content sources you choose. You then edit it like any other pathway.

Before you start

  • You need Admin, Manager or Contributor access.

  • If you don't see Create with AI, it isn't turned on for your workspace. Your admin can ask HowNow to turn it on.

  • The pathway must be a draft.

Generate the pathway

  1. Select + at the top of the sidebar, then Create a Pathway. The editor opens in a new tab.

  2. Select Create with AI, at the bottom of the list of options. The list only appears while the pathway has no steps.

  3. Under What is this pathway about?, say who the pathway is for and what they should be able to do (up to 1,000 characters). For example: "A two-week pathway for new returns desk colleagues: refunds, exchanges and calming frustrated customers."

  4. Under What Skills do you want the learner to develop?, choose up to 5 skills (optional).

  5. Under What content Sources would you like to use?, select Select Sources and choose at least one. Choose All Sources, your workspace's own content, HowNow+ or a connected library, such as Udemy For Business.

  6. Select Generate.

After Pathway ready appears (usually within a minute), the pathway has a new name, description and several sections, each with any steps that matched.

Note: HowNow AI replaces the pathway name and short description you typed. Change them back if you need to.

Check the result

  1. Read every section. When AI can't find matching content, it leaves the section empty, showing No steps have been added here yet.

  2. Fill each empty section with Add Step, or remove it.

Start again

While the pathway is a draft, select the round AI button at the bottom right of the editor, then select Generate.

Note: In Are you sure?, selecting Yes, Proceed deletes all the pathway's sections and steps, including your own edits, and builds a new pathway. You can't undo this.

Good to know

  • AI is busy: if HowNow AI reports higher-than-usual demand, try again in a few minutes.

  • One at a time: only one generation can run on a pathway at once.
