A Guru is an AI coach on one topic that your learners can ask questions, take quizzes with and practise conversations with.
Before you start
Guru must be switched on for your workspace. If you don't see Create a Guru, ask your HowNow contact.
You need Admin, Manager or Contributor access. Read Only users can't create Gurus.
Create the Guru
Select + at the top of the sidebar, then Create a Guru. You can also select Create a new Guru in the sidebar's Gurus section. The Guru editor opens in a new tab as a draft.
Note: Bookmark the editor tab. Draft Gurus aren't listed in Manage › Content, so the link is the easiest way back.
In Name, enter the name learners will see (up to 64 characters), for example "Customer Complaints Coach".
In Context and Purpose, describe what the Guru helps with, who it's for and how (up to 2,000 characters). For example: "Help store advisors handle customer complaints calmly, offer the right remedy under our refund policy and know when to call a manager."
Optional: select the AI pen icon in the bottom-right corner of Context and Purpose (Enhance Prompt) to have AI rewrite your context. It needs at least 10 characters and replaces your text, so check the result.
Optional: select the image above Name to open Avatar Image. Upload a PNG or JPEG, or search From Unsplash and choose a photo, then select Upload.
Name and Context and Purpose save when you leave each field, once both are filled in, and Last saved updates at the top. The Preview chat on the right then introduces your Guru. The Guru stays a draft, visible only to you, until you publish it.
Next, add skills, knowledge, a coaching style and role-play scenarios, then test the Guru in the Preview chat.
Good to know
Context and Purpose sets the Guru's limits. The Guru declines questions outside it, and the suggested skills and role-play scenarios are based on it.
You can't publish until both are saved. Until then, the Create button at the top right is greyed out and shows "Name and context required".
Only you can edit your Guru. Admins can't edit Gurus that other people create.
On a published Guru, a new image and other edits only go live when you select Save Changes.
