Edit a published Guru

Written by Sunil Sharma

You can change anything on a published Guru: its name, context, image, skills, knowledge, coaching style, role-plays and learners. Your changes stay private until you save them, so learners never see a half-finished update.

Before you start

  • Only the Guru's creator can edit it. Admins can't edit Gurus that other people created.

Edit your Guru

  1. In the sidebar, expand Gurus and select your Guru.

  2. Select ⋮ at the top right, then Edit Guru. The editor opens. If you only see Clear Chat, you didn't create this Guru, so you can't edit it.

  3. Make your changes, and try them in the Preview chat on the right.

Remember: Leaving the editor before you select Save Changes throws away every change, including uploaded files and changes to learners. There's no warning if you refresh, close the tab or go back in your browser.

  4. Select Save Changes at the top right.

  5. If only you are assigned, Publish Without Assigning Learners? appears. Select Skip for now to save without assigning, or Assign Learners to choose people first.

You're taken back to the Guru, and learners get the new version. Anyone you've newly assigned can now open the Guru, and gets an email only if you turned on Send an email notification to all assigned users.

Good to know

  • Changes to learners are held too. Saving in Assign Learners stores your choice, but it only applies when you select Save Changes.

  • Admins aren't emailed again. The "new Guru" email only goes out the first time you publish.

  • If Save Changes is greyed out, select outside the field you last edited and check Name and Context and Purpose aren't empty.
